FAQs

It's entirely normal to feel nervous before attending your first class, but don't worry - we're a friendly bunch and you'll soon feel perfectly at home. Here are some of the questions we get asked.

Classes are suitable for beginners, no partner or prior experience required.

Do I need a partner?

We rotate partners throughout the class, so you don't need to bring a partner. Lot's of our dancers attend the events on their own and everyone is really friendly - so you'll soon get chatting to people.

I've never done any dancing before - will I be OK?

Certainly! Our beginner classes are designed for people with no prior dance experience whatsoever. So many people tell us they have 'two left feet', that they're different somehow. But trust us, anyone can learn to dance if they just give classes a try.

What should I wear?

Wear something that you feel comfortable in that allows you to move around. There's no specific clothes you need for dancing, just stuff that's not too tight or restrictive.

You don't need dance shoes, trainers that are pretty slippy will do just fine. Otherwise if you want to get a pair of dance shoes, they're definitely worthwhile - we recommend SwayD, they have some great options. Just don't wear them outside, you'll ruin the suede soles.

If you do have dance shoes, we recommend you avoid shoes with a high heel. You're better off in fairly flat shoes for swing.

Do I need to book on?

Nope, you can just turn up on the day. But why not let us know if you're planning on heading down. That way we'll be able to introduce you to some of our regulars.

What is your Covid-19 Policy?

You must not attend if you have symptoms of Covid-19, which include:

  • a high temperature
  • a new, continuous cough
  • a loss of, or change to, your sense of smell or taste

Please sanitise your hands regularly, and follow good hygiene practices.
