Wow, don't those days of dancing without a care seem a world away? It's been quite the eighteen months. It gives me great pleasure to announce that our classes are returning.
First, can I say that at Swing Renegades our thoughts go out to those who have lost someone. Or lost their livelihood in these difficult times. To those who are still battling with lingering symptoms - or who might be only now having their battle with the virus.
Our number one priority, above anything else, is keeping people safe.
Is it Safe to Reopen?
A recent analysis released by Public Health England suggests that the vaccines dramatically reduce the risks of a serious outcome. Zero risk? No. But we have to balance risks in our life all the time - not least of which, the risk of not living our lives.
While it's clear that cases are rising again, I believe that the vaccines are our shield and the evidence suggests they are very effective. The most vulnerable in society have long-been double-dosed, and the entire adult population has now been offered the vaccine.
Swinging Out of Adversity
Swing dance was born some hundred years ago - out of the adversity of a global pandemic and a bitter world war. People needed to celebrate life and experience joy.
History doesn't repeat but it rhymes. Bring on the roaring twenties, you are already overdue.
